Topkapı Sarayı) is a historic palace located in Istanbul, Turkey. This palace was built between 1465 and 1478 by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II (Mehmed the Conqueror) and was later expanded and modified by subsequent Ottoman Sultans. The palace served as a governmental center and was used in the late 15th century as the seat of the Ottoman government.
Topkapı Palace served as a residence for the Ottoman Sultans and an administrative center. In 1924, the palace was transformed into a museum following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. Topkapı Palace consists of numerous buildings and wings, making it a repository of rich history and culture. This includes the Imperial Treasury, the Enderun School, the Topkapı Palace Museum, and especially areas related to the Sultan's life.
